Project 719

Donald Sheehan, Artistic Director of True Repertory Theatre, received a life saving kidney transplant on July 19 of 2016 – thus Project 719 was born. Grateful for the selflessness of his donor, Donald decided to give back through the theatre. True Rep collaborates with a local organization whose mission dovetails thematically with a current production to raise awareness and offer fund-raising opportunities. Here are two recent partnerships:

Rabbit Hole by David Lindsay-Abaire

Partnered with: Hope Floats Healing & Wellness Center

This play deals with the sudden loss of a child. Hope Floats provided a counselor to talk with the cast about grief and how we process it. They also welcomed audiences at every performance and distributed their information.

Ellen’s Boys by James Sullivan

Partnered with: GLSEN MA (Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network)

This play deals with being gay and coming out in a staunch Irish Catholic family in Dorchester, 1965. GLSEN, focused on ensuring safe schools for all students, distributed information on their work and solicited donations at all performances.

If you are involved with an organization and interested in partnering with us, please send us your information at truerepertorytheatre@gmail.com so we can keep you in mind for the future.
